It's a breath
Of fresh air.
I can
Stroll through
The halls
With a
Real smile
On my face.
For once,
I'm able to leave the
Well-worn mask
At home.
I have the strength
To push away
The voices scrambling
To get to me.
"You're too happy."
"Are your meds
Wearing off?"
"Get that grin
Off your face
And act like
A normal person."
I don't care.
Everything is brighter--
Glowing, even.
I've pulled myself out
Of the quicksand
That I so quickly
Find myself in.
